This semester was about materials. After choosing wood, we begun with an experimenting fase. The purpose was to explore and push forward the qualities and weaknesses of our chosen material in terms of structure and surface. We continued with the study of old architectural archetypes such as : theaters, markets, forums, terms, clusters etc. We finished by applying our material researches to those archetypes in order to create new events in the in-between spaces of the city. Our project was about giving people a simple constructing method in order to enable them to build new exchange places together. The structure is meant to be buyed by the city while the bardage is composed of recycled wood panels. As examples we defined an outdoor market place, a grotto, an observatory and suggested other buildings such as cinema, theaters etc.
